I play this course several times per week because of its convenient location and price. There's nothing too scenic about East Salinas, but the course is well kept with decent greens. The fairways could use a little more care, but the rough is kept to a manageable level. Most of the holes are not too difficult, depending on the amount of wind, which in Salinas can be sub-hurricane force! In all, the course will give the golfer an average experience without draining the wallet.

A good muni course. Located next to airport - hence, be prepared for windy conditions mainly starting around noon and increasing throughout the afternoon. It is the windy condition that makes this course a challenge.
Some wide open fairways mixed with medium width lined with trees.
All my distance are from the "white tees"-
A couple of "water" holes - #8 (water is close to tee) but the 175 yard par 3 is lined with trees and is fairly narrow.
The #14 364 yard par 4 is rumored to have been described as one of the toughest holes in the area due to the wind blowing straight into your face. Combine that with the green being RIGHT behind the water hazard (front of green about 4 yards from the water) and you have a really mean hole !
All in all a good muni - airport noise can be a bother but you soon ignore it.
